1. Do we sign an agreement or contract?
Insight requires each client to sign a contract prior to coaching commencing. Having a contract protects both the client and coach as it covers pricing, how payment is made, what is involved in the coaching and confidentiality. The main part of the agreement is a code of conduct, which gives both parties a sense of reassurance and understanding of the boundaries involved.
2. How do I pay for each session?
Payment is made in advance by cheque, to clear prior to commencement of coaching. For example when booking your initial sessions you would send a cheque for the initial four sessions, then four weeks later another cheque (if continuing).
3. Is it possible to meet the coach rather than being coached over the telephone?
Coaching is possible both face to face and over the telephone, however dependant upon location the client may be asked to cover travelling expenses. Some clients prefer to meet the coach for the initial session and then revert to telephone coaching, all options are possible.
4. How experienced is my coach?
Nicola is fully qualified and accredited by the UK College of Life Coaching, and pursues continuous professional development by attending other courses focusing on areas such as career coaching or work life balance. Coaching is highly confidential so we are unable to put you in touch with past clients however our website is regularly updated with new testimonials from satisfied clients.
5. How many sessions do clients normally need?
Each case is individual so some clients may only require six sessions taken on a weekly basis, while other clients go on to be coached for many months. On average, however, most clients are coached for three months. Coaching is not a quick fix option – it takes as long as the client needs to achieve their chosen long term goal. Once the client wishes to draw a close to their coaching sessions they simply need to give the coach 14 days’ notice.
6. Is coaching like counselling?
Coaching is for those people who want to make a positive change in their lives by moving forward. It does not deal with looking at and analysing the past, which often happens in counselling. This does not mean that the past never appears or cannot be discussed, particularly as coaching often asks us to discard negative past habits. It is simply that we do not dwell on past problems and try to resolve them. Coaching looks to the future and the opportunities available.
If, during the course of coaching, it appeared that coaching was not the right solution for the client, the coach would advise him or her of this so that alternative arrangements could be made.
7. Why should I use coaching, can’t I just chat to my friends?
Being coached is quite different from talking to your friends in that your coach does not offer any well meaning advice and is non-judgmental.
Having a coach means being able to say anything you like to someone who is there just to listen to you, not to talk about themselves or tell you what to do. You are their focus and because of this you have the space and time to really think. It is also totally confidential. |
